PH fights for gold in men’s squash

KUALA LUMPUR — The Philippine squash men’s team made the finals Monday, inching closer to a first gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games in recent years.

The pair of Robert Andrew Garcia and Juan Rafael Yam edged Darren Rahul and ng Eain Yow of Malaysia, 2-0, to barge into the championship round which begins Tuesday.

They are up against Singapore’s Benedict Chan and Pang Ka Hoa who ousted Eris Setiavan and Ade Furkon of Indonesia, 2-0.

The women’s team of Jemyca Aribado, Isabelle Gotuaco and Yvonne Alyssa Dalida bagged bronze after dropping a 2-1 decision to Shiela Sivakumar, Yeong Wai Yhann and Pamela Chua of Singapore.
