St. Benilde enters Filoil semis, clips UP
Carlo Young’s split from the freethrow line lifted College of St. Benilde past University of the Philippines, 64-62, and into in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup semifinals at Filoil Flying V Centre on Thursday.
Young’s freethrow with 3.3 ticks to go capped the five-point swing for the Blazers before Justin Gutang stole an inbound pass from Janjan Jaboneta to seal the win.

“I have to give credit to my coaching staff. I wasn’t in practice for three days due to hyperacidity. The boys really played to the gameplan,” Blazers head coach TY Tang said.
St. Benilde scored 21 easy points off UP’s 32 turnovers and buried 14 free throws out of 21 attempts.
