Mangosong turns back Ramento; Gabriel shines in MMF Supercross

MANILA, Philippines–Bornzkie Mangosong continued to dominate the opposition with a resounding victory in Round 4 of the centerpiece Shell Advance Pro Open in the MMF Supercross in Taytay, Rizal.

The 27-year-old Mangosong rode his Yamaha to victory from start to finish of the grueling race to extend his mastery of the MX Messiah Fairgrounds to four straight races.

As a result, Mangosong of Team United Athletes Mindanao, hiked his overall tally to 100 points, 14 points ahead of closest pursuer Ralph Ramento. Ramento finished runner up for the third straight race for a total of 86 points.

Nueva Ecija-pride Ompong Gabriel finished third for a 74-point total, while CK Ramento is in fourth overall with 65 points. Ageless Jolet Jao completed the Magic 5 with 45 points.

Jao, like Mangosong, remained perfect in the Veterans Open with 100 points, followed by Alfred Maximo with 72. Jing Leongson occupied third spot with 66 points.

Ramento said the race is getting better. ‘‘What a race. Ended up grabbing the 2nd spot. This series just keeps getting better and better for me. Learning a lot along the way. Thank you to the Man Up Above for keeping me safe and blessing me with this talent,’’ Ramento exclaimed.

In the ladies class, Pia Gabriel, Ompong’s eldest sister, led the competitors with 97 points, followed by Jasmin Jao with 83 points. Young Quiana Reyes trailed Jao by a solitary point after finishing second to Gabriel in Round 4. She also showed lots of promise after taking second place in Round 3.

Shana Tamayo, who skipped Round 4 is in fourth spot with 50 points, followed by Marianne Yapparcon with 40 points.

Pia also continued to make heads turn as she’s currently in third spot of the Amateur Open Production for all ages and gender with 64 points. Rico Herrero led the pack with 69 points, followed by Maynard Mercado with 67 points.

Jojo Sayas hogged top spot in the Executive Division. Other pacesetters were: Samuel Wayet (Amateur Open production 17 and below); Abdul Sandaani (Power Enduro, Beginners Open); Shana Tanayo Girls 12 and below); Xyxy Maximo (50cc 9 and below); LLeyton Fellizar (85 cc 14 and below); Carl Celestino (65 cc 11 and below); Joshua Tamayo(50cc 7 and below);Dylan Fabian (Yamaha PW50, 5 and below); Jason Sarmiento (Open Underbone, Local, Enduro 4-stroke); and Ariz Amero (Local Enduro 2-stroke).
