Falcons unearth new weapon in Fermin in rout of Generals; Knights triumph
New recruit Aaron Fermin scored 10 points, including two triples, in a key breakaway to power Adamson to an 89-65 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.
Up by two in the first half, Fermin’s heroics helped the Falcons snare a 40-26 lead after a spirited start by the Generals.
EAC even early in the match, 13-8, but when Fermin helped the Falcons find their groove, Adamson became virtually untouchable, racing to leads of as many as 34 points, 71-37.
Article continues after this advertisementFermin finished with 21 points to lead the Falcons while Jerrick Ahanmisi added 17, hitting three triples.
“I think that when Aaron gets in real game shape he will be able to contribute more,” said Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren. “We also shuffled our lineup to see how we respond to certain situations. We started our camp only April 9 and we still have a long way to go.”
Meanwhile, a returning Jerrick Balanza and Renato Ular propelled Letran to a 78-67 victory over Jose Rizal University in the other match at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Letran, who led by as many as 14, watched as JRU worked to within eight points, 62-54, before free throws by Larry Muyang, a tip-in by Ular, and a fastbreak layup by Balanza iced the match.
Balanza led Letran with 25 points while Ular added 13 and 14 rebounds.
