PBA D-League: Petron-Letran routs Batangas-EAC, awaits fate of playoff bid
MANILA, Philippines—Petron-Letran wrapped up the elimination round with a 115-73 beatdown of Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College in the 2019 PBA D-League Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
At 6-3, the Knights stayed in the running to make it to the next round but will be relying on the fate of Go for Gold-College of St. Benilde and Che’Lu Bar and Grill to survive.
“We don’t hold our status anymore, but we’re still giving our best effort,” said Knights head coach Bonnie Tan in Filipino. “There are games that we just have to invest in.”
Alvin Pasaol muscled his way for 29 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists to lead to Petron-Letran, which had a fiery start and never looked back.
Jerrick Balanza filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and two blocks while Jeo Ambohot had a near double-double of 17 points and nine boards.
The Generals fought back and got to within nine, 69-58, in the third quarter but the Knights retaliated with a massive 39-12 fourth quarter that put the match to the rest.
Kyle Carlos scored 24 points for Batangas-EAC, which is already eliminated with a 2-7 record.
