UST men, women teams off to unbeaten start in UAAP beach volleyball

MANILA, Philippines—University of Santo Tomas is off to a hot start in the UAAP Season 82 beach volleyball tournament after its men’s and women’s teams clobbered the competition Wednesday at Sands SM By the Bay.

Season 81 Rookie of the Year Babylove Barbon and Gen Eslapor gave the Golden Tigresses their third straight win with a complete domination of National University’s Andrea Abian and Chlea dela Fuente, 21-4, 21-8.

Not to be outdone, the Tiger Spikers’ pairing of Jaron Requinton and Rancel Varga swept Adamson University’s Leo Miranda and Jesus Valdez, 21-18, 21-15.

Both UST teams are at 3-0 on the first day of the tournament.

De La Salle and Far Eastern University also remained 3-0 in the women’s division.

Lady Spikers Tin Tiamzon and Justine Jazareno swept University of the Philippines’ Rosie Rosier and Euri Eslapor, 21-19, 21-18, while Lady Tamaraws Sheena Gallentes and Sheila Mae Kiseo drubbed the Lady Falcons’ partnership of Kring Uy and Chen Ave, 21-12, 20-22, 15-5.

FEU also remained perfect in the men’s division with Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon taking down National University’s James Buytrago and James Natividad, 21-19, 19-21, 15-11, for their third win in the day.

FEU tied UST atop the men’s standings at 3-0.
