MANILA, Philippines–NLEX put together a cushion in the third frame and used it to put away TNT, 126-113, and formalize its entry into the PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs Friday night at Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

Import Manny Harris unloaded 20 of his 40 points in the pivotal third quarter as the Road Warriors, who had an early jump on things and led by as many as 10 in the first, ended the KaTropa’s unbeaten run at seven games.

“Great effort by the guys. There’s a reason TNT’s undefeated up to this point. We just made sure we were ready for them,” said coach Yeng Guiao as NLEX improved to 5-1.

Kiefer Ravena fired 16 points off the bench to lead the local cast in scoring while Jericho Cruz, Poy Erram, and JR Quiñahan all tossed in 10 or more.

KaTropa got the goods mostly from KJ McDaniels, who nearly had a triple-double in 42 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, but had to play without Jayson Castro, who suffered a calf strain, for most of the game.

Roger Pogoy added 35 points while Don Trollano 10 to make up for Castro’s absence.
