SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—Two-time world champion Geylord Coveta topped the men’s RS:One windsurfing event Monday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

But while the 38-year-old windsurfing ace is already way ahead of the competition with seven points, the gold medal won’t be awarded until all possible protests have been addressed.

Thailand’s Navin Singsart placed second after compiling 11 points and Ridwan Ramadan of Indonesia wound up third with 12 points after 12 races at the Lighthouse Marina Resort here.

Coveta, who settled for the silver in his pet event during the 2017 edition of the Games in Kuala Lumpur, was the world champion in 2012 and 2017.

It will be the second gold by Filipino sailors after Emerson Villena and Lester Troy Tayong ruled the men’s international 470 race.
