PFL teams to begin training in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines Football League (PFL) is set to resume training Wednesday.

Three clubs in Kaya, Stallion and United City will kick off the return of practices at the National Football Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

“They are all looking forward to the resumption of training,” said Philippines Football Federation (PFF) president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta during Tuesday’s Philippine Sports Association (PSA) Forum.

Officials reminded the players to strictly act within the safety and health guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) as part of the joint administrative order (JAO) signed by the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

“It’s a matter of reminding them about the safety of the players and the safety of the venue,” said Araneta.

“Each club has their own responsibility to make sure that the players are following safety protocols.

The PFL was among the few pro leagues given the go-signal by the government to resume workouts amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The league hopes to get its season going next month if everything goes according to plan.

“Cooperation is vital,” said PFL commissioner Coco Torre.

“What we’re doing here amid the pandemic, the most important thing is for everyone to follow instructions because cooperation is vital on what we are trying to achieve.”
