PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial to be feted by press corps

MANILA, Philippines—PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial is set to be named the league press corps’ Mr. Executive after his leadership led to the staging of the Philippine Cup inside the bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

The PBA had to resort to the use of a bubble environment to resume the All-Filipino Conference after it initially got  halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite two false positive cases of COVID-19, the Philippine Cup went as planned with Barangay Ginebra taking the title in December ending a 13-year drought for the prestigious championship.

Marcial, who lived inside the bubble for the duration of the tournament, led a 500-strong delegation into Clark that included players, staff, referees, and media.

Along with Marcial, PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas will also be honored in the awarding ceremonies that will be held virtually on Sunday at TV5 Media Center.

The Outstanding Coach of the Bubble is the last piece of individual hardware to be announced after winners of the President’s Award, Top Bubble D-Fender, All-Bubble D-Fenders, Mr. Quality Minutes, Game of the Bubble, and All-Rookie Team were named prior.
