MANILA, Philippines—Filpino Muay Thai specialist Roel Rosauro is looking to build on his first win ONE Championship as he welcomes amateur standout James Yang into the promotion in ONE: Revolution on Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Rosauro (5-3), who lost his first two fights in ONE Championship, captured his first win in the company nearly two years after his January 2018 debut when he scored a unanimous decision victory over Yohan Mulia Legowo.

His win was also as fateful as it could be as his wife Almyra gave birth to their first child Eunice just five days after that bout.

Rosauro said having a baby has given him added inspiration against Yang, a personal training partner of former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. They have another baby on the way in November.

“My baby gives me so much inspiration and I’m even more inspired now because my wife is pregnant once again and she’s due this November,” said Rosauro. “It seems like every fight I have, I’m welcoming a new baby into the world.”

Rosauro admitted that he hasn’t studied Yang extensively, who holds a 6-0 amateur record, and that he focused more on himself rather than his opponent.

The Cebu native said he’s worked on improving his overall fight game heading into the fight card.

“Truth be told I didn’t focus too much on James, I just concentrated on my training on how to improve my grappling and striking,” said Rosauro. “I watched him once on YouTube then focused on improving myself more.”

Rosauro added that he’d like to end the fight on a knockout and not let the judges have a say on the result following the controversial split decision loss of Denice Zamboanga to Ham Seo-hee in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix.

“I really want to get the knockout win, or maybe a technical knockout, so that there won’t be any controversy just like what happened to Denice.”
