PBA upbeat on welcoming back fans next conference

MANILA, Philippines — The PBA could finally have fans back in attendance for its second conference, commissioner Willie Marcial said Tuesday.
Marcial said he will meet with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in the coming days to discuss the upcoming Governors’ Cup and the possibility of welcoming the fans back in the venue for the first time in two years.
“I will ask the help of the IATF if the fans will be allowed. We will discuss how many percent will be allowed and how the seating arrangement will be and what kind of protocols and safety measures are needed, Marcial said in Filipino during the PSA Forum Tuesday.
“We’re excited about the second conference. It’s going to be a conference with imports and we’re looking forward to having our fans back. That’s what we’re hoping for. It’s been two years and we’re looking forward to having them again as part of our tournaments,” said PBA chair Ricky Vargas.
The next conference is tentatively set for a November 28 tipoff while the inaugural 3×3 tournament rolls off on November 20 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Last month, TNT was crowned Philippine Cup champion in a crowd-less venue at DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
