PBA 3×3: Pioneer, Platinum Karaoke, Sista, TNT grab quarterfinals spots

MANILA, Philippines—Pioneer, Platinum Karaoke, Sista, and TNT advanced to the quarterfinals after topping their respective groups in the first day of PBA 3×3 Leg 2 Wednesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Pioneer and Platinum topped Pool C with the two teams taking equal 2-0 records while the Tropang Giga, the winners of Leg 1, held ground at the top of Pool A at 3-1.

Sista took a share of Pool A leadership as it also finished with a 3-1 record in the first day of Leg 2.

Terrafirma, meanwhile, also took a 2-0 record after the first day to take sole possession of Pool B’s top seed.

Platinum opened its Leg 2 campaign with a close 21-16 win over Purefoods but followed it up with a big 21-10 victory over NorthPort.

Pioneer drew a close 21-20 victory over the Titans but took control of the Batang Pier, 22-12, in their next game.

The Dyip held off Leg 1 runner-up Meralco, 17-1,  in their first game of and followed it up with a tight 19-17 win over Barangay Ginebra.

The Tropang Giga, who came into Leg 2 with a 7-0 Leg 1 record, saw their 10-game winning streak end in dramatic fashion when they lost to Cavitex 20-19.

TNT did take wins over San Miguel, 21-12, and Sista, 21-17, to take hold of Pool A.

The Super Sealers, who went 0-6 in Leg 1, went 3-1 in Leg 2 as they took down the Beermen 21-19, Zamboanga, 22-18, and the Braves, 22-16.
