SINGAPORE–Jeremy Miado extended his run and took a technical knockout victory over Lito Adiwang, who injured his knee, in the all-Filipino strawweight clash at the ONE X card on Saturday at Singapore Stadium here.

Miado booked his third straight win as the referee stopped the contest 2:56 in the second round with Adiwang, the No. 5 ranked strawweight contender, unable to continue after seemingly twisting his right knee.

It was an anticlimactic finish to what would’ve been a thrilling bout with Adiwang, one of the more explosive fighters in his division, bringing the action right off the bat and Miado staying toe-to-toe and landing some clean takedowns.

“I’m not really happy because we ended this fight with an injury but I knew I could win and I knew I could knock him out very soon, because that’s our game plan but that’s what happened,” said Miado, who trains with Marrock Force in Thailand, as he hiked his record to 11-4.

“I’m sad for him then happy for me but it’s sad because he had an injury.”

Miado said he made adjustments in the second round after bearing the brunt of the Team Lakay’s thundering low kicks, which he thought may have contributed to Adiwang’s knee injury.

“That was our game plan to check his kick. I was expecting him to throw low kicks, especially coming from Team Lakay. That’s why I received a lot of calves kick. So in the second round, we adjusted to check his kick so maybe that’s one of the things that affected his knee, maybe because he has a previous injury.”

As the two were sizing up each other, Adiwang landed awkwardly on his knee as was he was stepping back and signaled to stop the fight before the referee stepped in. He hobbled down the ring with the help of his team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao before being wheelchaired out of the event area.

Miado, who is looking to move up the strawweight rankings, said he would be happy to face Adiwang again.

“No problem for me, if they I want a rematch I’ll give them a rematch. Whatever ONE Championship wants for me, it’s okay. Just give me another opportunity to prepare.”
