MANILA, Philippines—The much anticipated Letran-San Beda rivalry game in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament on Friday will be missing a few players.

Following their heated 67-62 win against Mapua on Tuesday, the Knights will lose the services of Brent Paraiso and Louie Sangalang due to suspension.

Sangalang is suspended for one game because of ejection from two technical fouls. He was thrown out of the game in the last seconds.

The NCAA has a rule where it suspends a player for one game if he has been ejected from two technical fouls.

For Paraiso, however, his disqualifying foul on Adrian Nocum is the catalyst of his suspension.

“Upon thorough review, it was established that Paraiso intentionally hit Mapua’s Adrian Nocum at the back of his head with an elbow which is a deliberate act of violence and not a legitimate basketball play,” NCAA commissioner Tonichi Pujante said in a statement.

Pujante also confirmed that both players will only be suspended for one game, making them both available for Letran’s clash against Lyceum on Sunday.

Letran, which currently holds a 3-1 record, will face off against league rivals San Beda, which holds a 2-2 card, on Friday at San Juan Arena.
