PASSI CITY — Adrian Wong stood out among the crop of youngsters after leading Team Greats to a 158-138 victory over Team Stalwarts on Friday in the Rookie Sophomore Junior game of the PBA All-Star Weekend here.

Wong hit a number from the three-point range a special four-point line with a distance of 27 feet, especially during the fourth quarter that kept the Greats in front and eventually rule the contest held before fans at City of Passi Arena.

The Magnolia wingman scored 18 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter for the Greats. He also received P30,000 for his performance.

Terrafirma’s Javi Gomez de Liano topscored with 30 points while rookies Justine Arana of Converge and Ato Ular of Blackwater added 23 apiece.

Team Stalwarts, coached by Barangay Ginebra assistant Richard del Rosario, fended off the persistent tries of Team Greats to overhaul a double-digit deficit.

Encho Serrano, Slam Dunk contest runner-up Tyrus Hill and Joshua Munzon made four-pointers and three-point dunks, but the Caloy Garcia-mentored Greats had no answer for Wong and the Stalwarts.

Serrano finished with a game-high 40 for the losing Stalwarts.

The game capped off the official start of the weekend festivities in this city.

TNT’s Dave Marcelo took the Obstacle Challenge while Magnolia’s Paul Lee ruled the three-point shootout.

Converge’s David Murrell overcame Hill and became winner of the Dunk event.
