Paris Olympics: Carlos Yulo learns important lessons in all-around final
MANILA, Philippines—Carlos Yulo may have finished 12th in the Paris Olympics 2024’s men’s gymnastics all-around finalè on Thursday morning (Manila time) but make no mistake about it, he gained much-needed lessons for his upcoming final events.
“Although I made mistakes, I learned a lot. It feels so good to be included in the Finals of all-around. It’s a big leap from the Tokyo Olympics,” said Yulo in Filipino in an interview with official Paris Olympics broadcaster One Sports.
Article continues after this advertisement“I have to really give more now. No more second thoughts of ‘will I do this or not?’ Now, it’s more on me giving everything I have whatever happens so whatever results come out, I’ll be happy.”
It will be a busy week in Paris for the Team Philippines bet.
On Saturday, he will be embarking on the floor exercises final while less than 24 hours later, he will be competing in the vault finals.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the all-around Finals, Yulo finished with 14.333 points in the floor exercises with a higher difficulty than his usual.
Despite the good showing, though, Yulo admitted that he had a hard time with his second go-around in the exercise.
“I already had a good flow in that second pass, I just lost my back handspring so my takeoff got weaker. I need to control that in the landing and not the takeoff.”
Yulo also had a stellar showing in the vault exercises with a cumulative score of 14.766 total points, all while having a 6.00 difficulty.
