Tanauan batters unseat ILLAM
HOST Tanauan City exploded early and dethroned International Little League Association of Manila with a pulsating 11-10 triumph yesterday to wrest the Junior League Baseball title in the Little League Philippines Series 2013 in Batangas.
Looking to make up for the disappointment of their Big League counterparts who yielded to Muntinlupa in the finals Monday, the Tanauan batters unleashed 14 hits with six coming in the third inning that the hosts translated into nine runs.
Tanauan made sure there was no heartbreaking end to its campaign in the 13-14 division for the second straight year, coming up with defensive plays that kept the rallying ILLAM at bay with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.
“They (ILLAM) made it tough for us but our batting pulled us through,” said Tanauan coach Oca Natanauan after steering the city to a first title. Cedelf P. Tupas
