Filoil: Hot-shooting JRU torches USC

MANILA, Philippines — Jose Rizal University turned to its outside shooting to beat University of San Carlos, 78-61, in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

Jaycee Ascuncion and Philip Paniamogan made four triples each for the Heavy Bombers, who launched 11 3-pointers throughout the game.

Ascuncion scored 18 points while Paniamogan finished with 14 as both snipers went four-of-eight from downtown.

“We have no idea on how they play. We just anticipated the plays that they would possibly do,” said JRU head coach Vergel Meneses.
