MANILA, Philippines — Philip Paniamogan fired 16 points and Bernabe Teodoro added 12 as Jose Rizal University hacked out a 69-68 upset win over UAAP champion La Salle Saturday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Heavy Bombers squandered an 18-point bulge at the start of the second half and held their ground to register their third victory in four games in Group A while the Green Archers fell to 1-1.
Jason Perkins bungled a running shot at the buzzer that could have won it for La Salle.
Earlier, San Beda demolished Lyceum, 80-56, even as San Sebastian College leaned on the heady plays of CJ Perez to topple Holy Trinity College, 91-84, for its second victory after two setbacks in Group C.
The 6-foot-8 Ola Adeogun had 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Red Lions streaked to their fourth straight win in as many games to share the lead with Far Eastern University in Group B.
Guy Mbida scattered 26 points for the Pirates, who lost their second game in four outings.
