MANILA, Philippines –The Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the National University Bulldogs will face off in the Finals of the men’s basketball tournament after surviving their respective do-or-die games Wednesday.
FEU Coach Nash Racela said the best of three Finals that start Saturday was the “best thing that ever happened to the UAAP”.
Not since 1992 has there been a Finals match without either La Salle or Ateneo.
Mac Belo scored the buzzer-beating three-pointer that settled the final score, 67-64, for the Tamaraws who will face the Bulldogs in Game 1 of their championship series at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was also a cliffhanger for the Bulldogs as they squeaked past the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 65-63.
