Justin Melton’s blindfolded dunk fail goes viral

MANILA, Philippines—The blindfolded dunk attempt of Justin Melton of Purefoods Stars Hotshots on Friday quickly went viral on the Internet and was featured by various international media outlets.

Melton’s attempt, which was said to be his tribute to former NBA star Baron Davis, ended as what others described as the “funniest dunk attempt ever.”

His blindfolded dunk try was recorded on video by INQUIRER.net, and was featured in USA Today, Huffington Post, SBNation, Bleacher Report and other international sports media organizations.

It was even shown in a video segment in a CNN News program.

The 5-foot-9 Melton’s lackluster showing during Saturday’s PBA All-Star side event was surprising because he was declared co-champion of Rey Guevarra in last year’s contest. Guevarra topped the competition again this year.

Melton, however, took lightly the comments to his blunder, simply saying his butt hurt after the event.

“Mahsaket pwet nayong hah…mayoseph (My butt hurts right now),” he said on his official Twitter account.

He said that he might try again next year to snag the dunking champion trophy. AJH
