MANILA, Philippines — Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t known for having a knockout power, but that could change soon.

The 38-year-old Mayweather, who hasn’t had a stoppage since 2011, reportedly knocked out a sparring partner in the middle of his training for his May 2 megafight with Manny Pacquiao.

Chris Robinson, who posts stories and photos right from Mayweather’s training camp in Las Vegas, told CBSSports.com that the top pound-for-pound fighter has stepped up in his preparations that eventually led to the reported KO.

“Floyd doing his thing. He dropped one of the guys with a body shot,” Robinson said.

The last Mayweather fight that didn’t go to the scorecards was when he knocked out Victor Ortiz in controversial fashion.

Mayweather’s last definitive knockout however dates back to 2007, when he won by TKO in the 10th round over Ricky Hatton.

Pacquiao, too, has a longstanding knockout drought with Miguel Cotto being the last opponent he was able to stop when they met in the ring in 2009.
