Mousasi puts down Philippou in UFC Fight Night Manila

Gerard Mousasi calculated and played it smart against Costas Philippou to take a unanimous decision victory in their middleweight fight in UFC Fight Night Manila: Edgar vs. Faber Sunday early morning at Mall of Asia Arena.

The no. 7-ranked Mousasi outplayed the no. 12-ranked Philippou putting the fight to the ground and ultimately negating Philippou’s stand-up game.

Mousasi said he had to keep it smart against the notorious striker.

“Keep it smart and go for the ground and pound,” Mousasi said as he notched a 37-5-2 record. “On the ground, I had the advantage and I’m not gonna risk and get knocked down.”
