Ravena wants title for Ateneo not another MVP to end UAAP career

With 28 points, four rebounds and four assists, Kiefer Ravena may have just sealed his second UAAP MVP award on Saturday as Ateneo wrapped up its campaign in the elimination round.

But the graduating guard is only after one trophy as he nears the end of his celebrated collegiate career.

“I’d rather get the championship,” said Ravena, who is leading the statistical race for MVP, after the Final-Four bound Blue Eagles’ five-game winning streak was snapped following a 74-69 loss to the University of the East Red Warriors.

“Two [MVP awards] will be a blessing, one is enough. But I’d rather have the championship,” he added.

The setback ended Ateneo’s pursuit of a twice-to-beat advantage and also serves as a reason for Ravena and the rest of the Eagles to stay focused.

“We wasted the opportunity but we have to focus on the present right now, see who we will face [in the Final Four] after this game,” Ravena said, referring to the game between defending champion National Univeristy and Far Eastern U.

“We just need to get our minds right, rest our bodies, stay positive, and be ready for whoever.”
