Road Warriors speed past Batang Pier to boost bid

NLEX breezed past Globalport, 114-98, for its second straight win to boost its playoff bid in PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Chico Lanete capped the Road Warriors’ 17-3 run across the final two quarters with 9:37 left to distance themselves from the Batang Pier with a 96-82 lead.

NLEX improved to 5-5 for sixth seed in the 12-team ladder while the Batang Pier dipped to their third straight loss for a 3-7 record.

Import Bill Walker led NLEX with 35 points but he wasn’t the only Road Warrior to make the Batang Pier smell the scent of burning rubber.

Lanete poured in 25 points for the Road Warriors while Jonas Villanueva added 14.

Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo carried the scoring load for Globalport combining for 53 points in the loss.
