Asiad champ takes over swim body
The Philippine Olympic Committee has appointed two-time Olympian and Asian Games champion Ral Rosario as president of the local swimming federation in a caretaker capacity.
Charlie Ho, part of the three-man committee tasked to fix the sport’s leadership problem, said Rosario is the only remaining legitimate member of the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa) when it held its elections in 2010.
At that time, Rosario, the 200-meter freestyle gold medalist in the 1978 Bangkok Asiad, was elected corporate secretary.
Pasa later changed its name to Philippine Swimming Inc.
Rosario and Lani Velasco, acting secretary general, will form a technical working group.
