Dutchman bloats lead to six after record round
DANAO City, Cebu—Guido Van der Valk pounded the Club Filipino de Cebu course for the second straight day and reset the course record of six-under 65 for a whopping six-shot lead halfway through the ICTSI Club Filipino de Cebu Invitational here Thursday.
While the rest of the pack could not seem to master the short but tricky par-71 layout, the Dutchman sustained his hot form with eight birdies against two bogeys for 131.
Jonel Ababa, who ruled the rain-shortened edition last year, fired a 69 for 137 heading to the last 36 holes.
Lloyd Go birdied two of his last four holes for a second 69, tied with Elmer Salvador, who turned in a 70, and Jay Bayron, who matched par, at 138.
