Alapag eager to learn as Sacramento Kings’ assistant in NBA Summer League
MANILA, Philippines—Just four years into his coaching career, Jimmy Alapag knows he still has a lot to learn.
He also believes there’s no better way to hone one’s craft than being in the company of some high level individuals in the same field.
Article continues after this advertisementThat’s why Alapag didn’t even think twice in accepting an invitation from a good friend in Vlade Divac, the NBA legend who now serves as vice president of basketball operations and general manager of the Sacramento Kings, to join his team as an assistant in the 2019 Summer League in Las Vegas Nevada.
“As a Coach, it’s important to continue to grow and learn. So thankful to Vlade Divac and the Sacramento Kings organization for the opportunity to join their Summer League staff in Vegas this year,” Alapag posted on his Instagram account Saturday.

Article continues after this advertisementThe 2019 Summer League, where all 30 NBA teams will be participating, runs from July 5-15 at Thomas and Mac Center and Cox Pavilion inside the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus.
The 41-year-old Alapag started coaching in 2015 as an assistant with the national team after a celebrated professional and international basketball career.
Alapg is currently the head coach of Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League and assistant coach of the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA.
