Manny Pacquiao on Floyd Mayweather: Let him enjoy retirement

LAS VEGAS—With the world title fight against Keith Thurman just days away, Manny Pacquiao doesn’t seem to be too inclined about a potential rematch with longtime rival Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather hasn’t fought in an official boxing match in almost two years after announcing his retirement following a 10th round stoppage of MMA star Conor McGregor in a crossover fight.

And right now, Pacquiao has no plans of disrupting Mayweather’s post-retirement life.

“I don’t know. I’m active and he’s retired so I think we don’t need to bother him,” said Pacquiao with a smile as he sat sitting beside Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “Let him enjoy his retirement.”

Last September, the two legends met at a music festival in Tokyo, Japan, sparking new talks of a rematch that eventually flamed out.

The 40-year-old Pacquiao lost to Mayweather by unanimous decision in a megabout in 2015.
