NCAA: St. Benilde fends off JRU in bounce back win

MANILA, Philippines–College of St. Benilde sank the marginal free throws to hold off Jose Rizal University, 74-66, in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament Friday.

Justin Gutang and Yankee Haruna sealed the Blazers’ sixth win in eight games by nailing their freebies that kept the rampaging Heavy Bombers under control in the closing seconds.

The Blazers bounced back from successive defeats at the hands of the last season’s finalists San Beda Red Lions and Lyceum Pirates while sending the Bombers to their sixth defeat in nine outings overall in a tie with the Perpetual Altas.
