Kalei Mau carries F2 Logistics past Petron for PSL Invitational crown
MANILA, Philippines—F2 Logistics wasted a two -sets-to-none lead to wear down Petron, 25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 15-12, Thursday night and retain the Philippine Superliga Invitational Cup at Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
Kalei Mau unloaded 29 points to make up for her absence in the first five games of the conference and help the Cargo Movers win their second straight conference title since joining them this year.
F2 Logistics took a 10-7 lead in the third and appeared to have left Petron down for the count.
But the Blaze Spikers made a major offensive pivot bringing in Bernadeth Pons who worked wonders with veteran Aiza Pontillas on the opposite side to extend the match to the limit.
However, Mau scattered five of her points in the fifth set to provide ballast for F2 Logistics which won the championship point on an error called on Petron.
The Cargo Movers thus captured their fifth conference title, just one championship shy of the Blaze Spikers’ record of six.
