The television host also shared a screenshot of an e-mail by the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torchbearers Office congratulating her for being selected to join the relay following a “rigorous screening process.”

“Just to clarify — I’m not the country’s official flagbearer. I applied for this and got chosen. Will definitely be a proud Filipino there though,” Ho said in a separate tweet.

According to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics’ website, the torch relay will “travel to all 47 prefectures in Japan, showcasing the varied cultural and scenic attractions of each region.”

With the theme “Hope Lights Our Way,” the Olympic flame will initially be put on display at various locations in the Tohoku region, to help underscore this message of hope in the areas affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The Tokyo Olympics will open on July 24, 2020.
