After winning title, time for LA Tenorio to give back to Batangas folk
MANILA, Philippines—LA Tenorio kept his promise of delivering the PBA Governors’ Cup title to the survivors of the Taal Volcano eruption, and now he’s heading to Batangas to personally give joy to the victims.
Ginebra’s floor general said PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial had reached out to him about the league’s own outreach program to Batangas. He also said he will be giving his own donation.
“I already sent some donation to my immediate family there, because my dad and 60 of my relatives are all living in one house,” said Tenorio in Filipino after the Gin Kings’ 105-93 Game 5 win over Meralco.
“I’m just happy we were able to win the championship for them and my mom talked to my relatives there and they want to watch the game live despite the circumstance.”
The Gin Kings dedicated the Game 4 win for the survivors in Batangas with the championship in the bag, he gets the chance to visit his province and extend some help.
Hailing from Nasugbu, Tenorio said his clan started in Taal and one barangay there is predominantly carrying the Tenorio bloodline.
“Comm. Willie talked to me about the league’s plan and he asked me to come with them but I will make a separate trip to go to my relatives in Lipa because they evacuated there,” said Tenorio who had 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.
“I will go to them especially now that the season is over and I have plenty of time.”
