PBA: TNT still unbeaten after cooling off Phoenix
MANILA, Philippines — TNT came out firing in the second half to torch Phoenix Super LPG, 110-91, and gain the top spot in the PBA Philippine Cup Monday at AUF Sports Arena & Cultural Center in Angeles, Pampanga.
The Tropang Giga stared at a double-digit deficit early in the third quarter before their main hitters, led by Roger Pogoy, turned things around.
Pogoy finished with 30 points built on five 3-pointers while Poy Erram registered a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds on top of three blocks.
TNT, which outscored Phoenix, 30-14, in the pivotal third frame, upped its mark to 4-0 while also dealing Phoenix its first loss in three outings.
Phoenix took a 12-point lead at the 11:51 mark of the third quarter after a triple by Wright but the Fuel Masters couldn’t do much the moment the Tropang Giga hit their stride.
Matthew Wright paced the Fuel Masters with 31 points but cooled off in the final two quarters.
