MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala crashed out again in the quarterfinals after bowing to Poland’s Maja Chwalinska, 6-0, 6-4, in the ITF Trophee De La Ville De Grenoble in France.
This was Eala’s third straight quarterfinal exit in her first professional season that has went on solidly for the 15-year-old.
Eala, who is ranked no. 903 in the WTA rankings, had a roaring debut in the professional ranks when she captured the title of the first leg of the ITF W15 Manacor Tournament.
Despite her humble rankings in the professional circuit, Eala scored upsets left and right during her campaign.
Eala defeated World no.190 Laura-Ioana Paar 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, in in the first round and world No. 164 Cristina Bucsa of Spain, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(8), in the second stage of the Grenoble tournament.
The Philippine tennis sensation is set to return to Mallorca, Spain—the site of her first professional tournament—in March for the ITF Rafa Nadal Academy World Tour wherein she’s the only player ranked lower than 200.
