MANILA, Philippines—Jason Brickman may have missed out on the 2021 PBA Draft but he will still be in the league as member of Meralco’s 3×3 roster.
The ASEAN Basketball League veteran failed to secure the necessary papers to complete his draft application but he hopes his stint in the 3×3 tournament will eventually lead to his entry into the 5×5 circuit.
“I’m hoping that it could lead me into playing in the 5-on-5. But I’m just grateful to be a part of this first year of the PBA’s 3 x 3 league and try to win a championship for the Meralco Bolts,” said Brickman as per PBA.ph.
“Hopefully, I can finish my career in the Philippines. I would love to finish my career here and make this my home.”
Brickman, who graduated from Long Island University Brooklyn, was just one of four players in NCAA Division I history to record 1,000 assists before moving on to Russia to play for Dynamo Moscow in 2014 then to Germany for Medi Bayreuth in 2015.
He then played for Westports Malaysia, Mono Vampire, Hi-Tech Bangkok, and eventually Alab Pilipinas in the ABL.
“Hopefully, next year, I can get into the draft whenever I can. But right now, I’m focused on the 3 x 3 and hopefully it could lead me to better places,” said Brickman.
