Fiba commends SBP for ‘excellent’ Asia Cup qualifiers hosting
MANILA, Philippines—Fiba commended Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas for its work in the third window of the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers.
The Philippines hosted two groups in Clark, Pampanga at the end of the qualifying tournament that saw the host nation, Korea, China, and Japan qualify for the competition in Indonesia.
Article continues after this advertisement“On behalf of Fiba Asia Board Members, please accept our sincere appreciations for the excellent effort and support you and your staff provided in organizing and hosting the Fiba Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Window 3 postponed games of Group A and Group B,” wrote Fiba Executive Director-Asia Hagop Khajirian in a letter to the SBP.
“Having organized such an impressive event, especially during these challenging times, involves enormous amounts of time and energy which contributed substantially to its success.”
The national teams of the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, and Chinese-Taipei lived in the same bubble that the PBA used for the 2020 Philippine Cup with Quest Hotel serving as the official residence of the tournament and Angeles University Foundation as the playing venue.

Khajirian also congratulated Gilas Pilipinas for qualification to the Asia Cup in Indonesia that will be played on August 17 to 29.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you for having your national team qualify to the Fiba Asia Cup 2021 games which will be held in August in Jakarta, Indonesia. All your diligent work and commitment paid off,” wrote Khajirian.
“Thank you for your gracious hospitality and we look forward to meeting you at the big event in August in Jakarta.”
