MANILA, Philippines–Jimmy Alapag couldn’t be more grateful for his latest coaching break in the United States as part of the Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings.

Named as one of chief mentor Bobby Jackson’s assistant coaches, Alapag hopes to continue his success with Stockton after doing his part in helping the Sacramento Kings win the Summer League title in Las Vegas recently.

“Words can’t express how thankful I am for this opportunity to join the Stockton Kings for the upcoming NBA GLeague season!” Alapag posted on Instagram.

“Special thanks to Coach @thebobbyjackson73 and @pauljohnson_87 for believing in me and giving me this chance. Looking forward to connecting with the entire Stockton community. Time to get to work!!!”

Alapag will again work under Jackson, who also has Akachi Okugo as his other assistant.

Will Scott was tapped as associate head coach while Sydney Haydel was named Director of Basketball Operations.

PBA coaches Chot Reyes and Tim Cone were among those who congratulated Alapag on taking the next step to a possible NBA stint.

The 43-year-old Alapag, the former national team captain, moved back to the US in search of big coaching opportunities.

With another on the way, Alapag is certainly in the right direction.
