PH women’s teams off to Thailand for AVC club tilt

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine women’s national volleyball teams are headed for Thailand on Tuesday for the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.

The tournament, where Team Rebisco and Team Choco Mucho will represent the country, begins October 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Aby Maraño was named skipper of Team Rebisco, which is under the tutelage of Brazilian consultant Jorge Souza de Brito.

Team Choco Mucho, on the other hand, is captained by Iris Tolenada with Odjie Mamon calling the shots.

The teams underwent training camp in Lipa City, Batangas.

Meanwhile, the men’s team, coached by Dante Alinsunurin, leaves for Thailand on October 4 for the Asian Men’s Club Championship from October 8 to 15.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) held a sendoff for all teams on Saturday at De La Salle Sentrum in Lipa City.
