MANILA, Philippines—It’s another five-set loss for FC Tokyo and Marck Espejo as they dropped their second match against defending champion Suntory, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 29-27, 15-12, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Sunday at Daiichi General Sports Ground.
Espejo finished with 18 points in his second game back in the V.League after playing in Thailand and Bahrain from 2019 to early 2021.
Fujinaka Kenya led the Sunbirds, who improved to a 2-0 record, with 23 points while De Armas Berrio Alain Jr. added 21 points.
Nagatamo Yuma had 21 points to lead FC Tokyo, which dropped to 0-2, while Jonas Kvalen added 20 points.
FC Tokyo will next face JTEKT Stings at Panasonic Arena on Saturday.
