NLEX rookie Calvin Oftana graduates from San Beda
MANILA, Philippines—Calvin Oftana isn’t just making strides on the PBA, but also in life.
The NLEX guard became part of San Beda’s class of 2021 as he graduated with a degree Business Administration and a major in Marketing Management.
“For the guidance and protection, I say thank you, My G! You have done it, over and over again. Appreciate you for all the things You’ve done to me,” wrote Oftana on Instagram.
“Thank you San Beda University! Ut In Omnibus Glorificetor Deus! Animo San Beda! Go San Beda Fight!”
Oftana, the third overall pick of the 2021 PBA Draft, started his collegiate career with the Red Lions in 2016 winning three NCAA titles and the Season 95 MVP in 2019.

He also logged seven three-pointers during a 34-point outburst in a 104-101 loss to Meralco wherein he broke Allan Caidic’s rookie record of most made triples in a game.
“To the anchor during rough waters, my family and [my girlfriend] Ena [Novera], thank you for the support, said Oftana. “To my coaches , teammates and professors, thank you for helping me become the person I am today. Appreciate you all.”
Teammate Kevin Alas, CJ Perez, Jericho Cruz, and fellow 2021 draftee Jamie Malonzo all congratulated Oftana in his milestone.
