MANILA, Philippines—Nash Racela is officially back in the UAAP after Adamson University announced his appointment as the school’s new head coach for the men’s basketball team.
The former Blackwater and TNT coach replaced Franz Pumaren and is set to lead the Soaring Falcons in the coming Season 84.
Joining Racela at the Falcons’ bench are assistants Rommel Adducul, Ryan Betia, Ed Lorenz dela Torre, Gilbert Lao, Benjamin Sipin III and Mike Fermin.
“I would always say I know all schools have the same goals [championship], but in terms of expectation, all I can say is we will give our best and we will compete for sure every single game, every single season,” said Racela in an interview with Adamson News.

“Hopefully, by developing the right people, we would also achieve what every school dreams of. I don’t really want to mention, but again, I’m not a believer in claiming wins and championships, yet, that’s really the ultimate goal. Everything will fall into place as long as we do our part.”
Racela started his coaching career in 1998 with the Batangas Blades in the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association before moving to the NCAA with Sana Beda in 2004.
He then led Far Eastern University to the UAAP Season 78 title, eventually setting him up for a stint with TNT in the PBA.
While with the Tropang Giga, Racela coached the Philippines to the gold medal of the 2016 SEABA Cup.
Racela’s last coaching gig was with Blackwater from 2019 to 2021.
