Purefoods, Meralco advance in PBA 3×3 Leg 5
MANILA, Philippines—Previous leg champions Purefoods and Meralco as well as Terrafirma, Platinum Karaoke, and Limitless secured its spots in the next round of the PBA 3×3 Leg 5 Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The TJ Titans, who won Leg 4, and the Appmasters took a share of top spot of Pool A with both teams holding 3-0 records as they secured their slots in the quarterfinals.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Dyip 3×3 and the Bolts 3×3, meanwhile, are in a similar situation in Pool B as they topped their group at identical 2-0 cards to advance to the quarterfinals while Platinum Karaoke, which is also at 2-0, secured a spot in the knockout stage.
Joseph Eriobu caught fire for Purefoods in its close 21-19 opening win over NorthPort before dispatching Zamboanga, 21-6, and Pioneer Pro Tibay, 21-20.

Limitless then took down Zamboanga, 22-7, Pioneer Pro Tibay, 21-13, and the Batang Pier, 22-10.
The Batang Pier are at the third spot in Pool A with a 1-3 record with their lone victory over the 0-3 Valientes, 21-15.
Meralco took down Barangay Ginebra, 19-18, and Cavitex, 21-19, to start off Pool B.
The Dyip then had its own victories over the Gin Kings, 21-11, and the Braves, 20-19.
Ginebra and Cavitex ended the first day of Leg 5 at 0-2.
Platinum then held its ground in Pool C with wins over San Miguel, 22-20, and Leg 1 champion TNT, 21-11, but couldn’t secure a spot in the quarterfinals due to the other teams in the group taking 1-1 records.
Leg 3 champion Sista tripped TNT, 22-17, before it fell to San Miguel, 21-11.
Both the Beermen and the Super Sealers ended the first day at 1-1 in Pool C while the Tropang Giga are at 0-2 and are still mathematically in the running for a spot in the latter round.
