MANILA, Philippines — Kianna Dy had just recovered from a back injury but it didn’t stop her from making an explosive 20-point debut in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

The reigning Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League MVP shone bright in a new battle field after nailing 15 attacks, four blocks and and ace as F2 Logistics won its first Pool A assignment with a  25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22 victory over Black Mamba-Army on Wednesday at Paco Arena.

F2 Logistics assistant coach Benson Bocboc, who called the shots for the team due to the absence of Ramil de Jesus, said the best is yet to come for their star opposite spiker who is not yet in top shape from a back injury during the off season.

“She’s still recovering, coming from back pains and we’ve only seen her playing like this now. So it’s going to take some time for everyone,” said Bocboc on Dy, who had 49 attack attempts.

The La Salle standout, who delivered the match-winning hit on Army, said she  is glad that F2 Logistics finally made it to the PVL after begging off last season due to several injured players.

“We’re very excited to be part of the PVL finally and we’ll just keep on preparing and studying the other teams as we continue this tournament,” said Dy, who added that she’s continuing physical therapy so the back pains won’t return.

Besides Dy, the Cargo Movers’ setter Kim Fajardo is also recovering from a recurring knee injury. She was uniform earlier but didn’t play.

Bocboc said F2 Logistics is still working on their connection and taking Pool A one game at a time with three matches remaining against Chery Tiggo on Friday, Cignal on Sunday and Choco Mucho on March 24. The top two squads of the group will earn a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, while the fifth place squad will be eliminated.

“We’re still feeling each other out and everyone is building that connection for the team,” Bocboc said. “We’ll just have to take things one game at a time. We don’t really know what will happen. Matches are every other day and we’ll just prepare regardless of what team is there.”
