MANILA, Philippines–F2 Logistics didn’t play like a debuting team against a Chery Tiggo side that didn’t play like a champion club on Friday night as the Cargo Movers picked up their second straight win and the early lead in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Paco Arena in Manila.
It was a trouble-free 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 triumph for F2 Logistics which imposed its well-placed system, strengthening its chances of making it to the next round with a twice-to-beat incentive.
The Cargo Movers thus repeated over the Crossovers whom they defeated for the first ever Champions League crown late last year.
But unlike in that tournament, F2 Logistics even missed the services of scoring monster Kalei Mau who is playing in the United States.
Good thing the Cargo Movers carried on the winning traits with them, limiting errors to the minimum and charging the service game. In the first set, they outpointed the Crossovers in spikes,12-6, to typify their dominance.
Chery Tiggo failed to get in sync with each other and fell to its second straight defeat in this short tournament. It committed 13 service errors, some of them done just when the Crossovers were trying to get back into the match.
F2 Logistics got the luxury of resting top setter Iris Tolenada so the come-backing Kim Fajardo can see action in the league for the first time, checking in midway in the second set.
“It’s a big help that we as a team we have one mindset, we have one goal and we just keep working hard,” said Tin Tiamzon who scored 10 points for the Cargo Movers which eased up the load from resident scorers Kim Kiana Dy, Majoy Baron, Ara Galang and Aby Marano.
