PVL to welcome back fans at full capacity starting Monday

MANILA, Philippines — The Premier Volleyball League is set to allow back the fans at full capacity in the Open Conference quarterfinals on Monday at San Juan Arena.

PVL president Ricky Palou bared to Inquirer.net that fans are in for a treat as they can finally watch the games starting next week at the Arena, which has a 6,000-person capacity.

“Starting on Monday at San Juan Arena (fans will be allowed). We’re looking at full capacity,” said Palou in a text message.

The unbeaten Cignal, which swept its four games in Pool A to gain a twice-to-beat advantage, takes on BaliPure on Monday at 3 pm in PVL’s first game back in San Juan.

Creamline, the last PVL team to play at the Arena before the pandemic, renews its rivalry against defending champion Chery Tiggo at 6 pm to cap the quarterfinals double header.

The Sports Vision president added the fans have to present their vaccination cards and follow the minimum health protocols as they mark their return to live PVL games for the first time in this pandemic.

PVL will be the first league to return to San Juan Arena amid the pandemic after the venue was used as the city’s vaccination site.

The last time a PVL game was held in San Juan was the Cool Smashers’ Finals Game 2 win over Petro Gazz last November 9, 2019 to complete a perfect 20-0 Open Conference title run.

The PVL held all its pool stage matches at Paco Arena behind closed doors with Cignal and Creamline sweeping their their way to the quarterfinals.
