MANILA, Philippines — Dwight Ramos tallied six points and six steals as Toyama Grouses took down the SeaHorses Mikawa, 81-78, in Japan B.League on Sunday at Toyama City Gymnasium.
Ramos had a rough 3-of-10 shooting but he made up for his offensive struggle with his defense. He also collected three rebounds and two assists as they bounced back from an 84-70 defeat on Saturday.
Joshua Smith propelled the Grouses with 27 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, while Brice Johnson had a double-double of 13 points, 12 boards, two steals and two blocks to arrest a two-game skid and improve to a 23-34 card.
Meanwhile, Thirdy Ravena put up 16 points, three rebounds and two assists but San-En NeoPhoenix fell to Shinshu Brave Warriors, 88-85, at White Ring Arena.
Yuta Okada led Shinshu with 22 points and three assists. Ko Kumagai had 21 points, five dimes, three rebounds and three steals, while Matthew Aquino only played six seconds as his team rose to 25-26.
Elias Harris carried San-En with 23 points but they suffered their second straight loss, sliding to 10-45.
Bobby Ray Parks Jr. did not see action as Nagoya’s five-game win streak got halted by Ryukyu, 88-68, at Dolphins’ Arena.
Parks missed the second straight game as Scott Eatherton lifted the Diamond Dolphins with 18 points and nine rebounds but they fell to 32-14.
Kobe Paras unleashed 21 points but it went for naught as the Niigata Albirex BB absorbed their 15th straight defeat at the hands of the Gunma Crane Thunders, 85-79, at Ota City Sports Park Citizen Gymnasium.
Paras was 5-of-10 from deep and had seven rebounds and two assists only for Niigata to drop to a 5-44 record.
