MANILA, Philippines—Head coach Chot Reyes said TNT will continue to make do with what he has at his disposal as Mikey Williams remains unavailable for the Tropang Giga.
TNT and Williams are currently at a contract standstill three games into the PBA Season 47.
Reyes, though, would rather focus on what he can control.
“No update. I spoke to him the last time this morning and we just told him to get on the plane and get here. I think that’s the best situation, win-win for all,” Reyes said after TNT escaped Converge, 86-83, on Sunday in the 2022 Philippine Cup.
“But like I said on our team, we’re focusing on who is here. we’re not worried about who’s not here.”
So far, TNT has been able to cope with Williams’ absence with a 2-1 record despite its struggles offensively.
Tropang Giga veterans Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario have kept their team afloat.
Castro led TNT on Sunday with 17 points including the go-ahead layup in the final seconds while Rosario posted 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Glenn Khobuntin also stepped up with 15 and eight rebounds while Pogoy added 12.
“We know it’s going to be a struggle but the way I look at it is if we’re able to overcome this adversity this is going to strengthen us and make us grow even further as a team down the road,” said Reyes.
