PVL: Michelle Cobb joins Akari Chargers
MANILA, Philippines—Less than three months after forgoing her final UAAP year with La Salle, Michelle Cobb is set for her pro debut after joining Akari in the Premier Volleyball League.
The Power Chargers announced Cobb’s signing on social media on Tuesday.
“Oh yes, she’s back! Former La Salle dynamo, Michelle Cobb, is all set for a volleyball return via the Akari Power Chargers! Who’s excited to see that patented swagger on the PVL court this October?” the club posted on Twitter.
Cobb played three seasons for La Salle, helping the Lady Spikers win two UAAP titles.
The star setter officially returns to action in October when Akari makes its PVL debut in the Reinforced Conference.
The addition of Cobb comes after Akari introduced Brazilian mentor Jorge Edson Souza de Brito as its head coach.
The PVL’s midseason Invitational Conference, which will feature foreign clubs Kobe Shinwa Women’s University from Japan and Taipei King Whales from Taiwan in the semifinal round, comes off wraps on Saturday at San Juan Arena.
